Where is your learner right now?

Most families arrive in one of three places. Pick the one that sounds familiar — it shapes how the first weeks are planned.

What we work on together

Every plan starts from the learner's own exercise books and recent tests, so sessions line up with what their class is doing.

How Fern Crest teaches

Progress you can see in the exercise book, not only on the report

Each session ends with a three-line note: what we covered, what clicked, and one thing to practise. Parents always know where things stand.

A predictable structure keeps everyone calm — learner, parent and tutor.

    Weekly sessions

    Check-in

A quick call to adjust pace, focus or rhythm based on classwork.

Practical questions

Before you book

Anything not covered here can go in the enquiry note.

Online or in person — which works better?

Both work well. Online sessions use a shared whiteboard and a camera pointed at the learner's page; in-person sessions happen at your home. Many families mix the two across a term.

What ages and levels do you teach?

Learners aged 9 to 18, from upper primary through final school exams. Sciences start from age 11 and study skills from age 12.

Will there be homework?

Only a small task — usually 15 to 20 minutes — chosen to reinforce that week's lesson. It never replaces or duplicates school homework.

What if we need to cancel a session?

Give 24 hours' notice and the session is moved to another slot at no charge. Later cancellations are charged, except for illness.

How will I know if it's helping?

You receive a short note after every session, a mid-term check-in call and an end-of-term summary that compares the diagnostic with where things stand now.

Do you help with exam technique?

Yes. Timed practice, reading mark schemes, planning extended answers and managing time in the paper are built into every exam run-in block and into weekly sessions from spring onwards.
